A Monumental Mural Project in Cherpulassery, Kerala, India
The Keralan Director of SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan: All-educational Development Program, Govt. of India) Dr. Kuttikrishnan visited the Wall of Peace on March 31. He was welcomed by the PTA executive members of the school, teachers and local people, and a meeting was held to discuss the new Butterfly Garden, the future renovation of school buildings and other plans like the creation of an ayurvedic herb garden and a heritage museum featuring old agricultural tools and local history.
An inspiring sound artist, Michael Northam (USA) visited the Wall of Peace on February 21, 2019. He is a musician and composer, who released several CDs and online recordings by using alternative techniques for sound recording & mixing. His works combine improvisations on unusual electro-acoustic instruments with recordings from various locations around the world. The principal, teachers, community members and students gave him a warm welcome, and he offered a small presentation about how sound can be an artistic medium. The participants also attended a short listening meditation.
An eminent sculptor of Kerala, Professor Kanayi Kunchiraman visited the Wall of Peace in Cherpulassery. He is best known for his outsize sculptures such as Yakshi of Malampuzha Dam Gardens, Jalakanyaka at Shankumugham Beach and Mukkola Perumal trinity in Kochi. The Government of Kerala awarded him the inaugural Raja Ravi Varma Award in 2005. He is also a recipient of the Thikkurissy Award and the inaugural MS Nanjunda Rao National Award of the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath.
